The Constitution of the Federative Republic of Brazil of 1988, promulgated on October 5, 1988, is the fundamental and supreme law of Brazil, serving as a parameter of validity to all other normative species, standing at the top of the legal order. It can be considered the seventh or eighth Brazilian constitution (depending on whether or not to consider Constitutional Amendment No. 1 as a constitutional text) and the sixth or seventh Brazilian constitution in a century of republic.
